The road to the perfect physique..

Just like some other female out there, I am not lucky enough to be born with the right height nor the perfect body. The only thing that I have been struggling all my life is trying to manage my weight. The mirror is my best friend who sometimes show me a bit of love and kind of a b***h some other times. I rely on diet where I strictly forbid myself from any fast food, cut down any sugary sweet drinks and my friends call me a vegetarian for eating tones of vegetables on every meals ( I need the large portion of vege on every meal to curb the hunger from lack of carb in my diet). Years of constricting myself to just certain types of food yet all I do is just maintain my weight (which is still considered as healthy as I am 5f 3'' and 132lb). But I still need to shed off that extra 10lb!

Well, it all started 5months ago where I was at a point of life where everythg just don't seem to go my way. The only thing that I can take control of at that point is my body.I started out by taking baby steps with first do a lap or two in the swimming pool everyday (a lot of rest in between at first just to catch my breath ;p). Then increase it to 5laps within 15-20 minutes and about 2-3min rest between laps. And after swimming session, I would do some weight training. At first, I dont have the strength to pump heavy iron at that point so I just start by lifting around 2lb dumbell for 30min every otherday.

As swimming gets a little too mundane after a month or so, I bought myself a pair of running shoes and believe you me running is the best exercise to burn those unwanted orange peel effect on your behind!I still remember the first time I started.I could not ran more than 5minutes and starts power walking for the rest of the 1.5km track and it seems forever it took me to finish lol.. Than I started to pickup pace and after 2months, I can do 3km within less than 30mins with minimum rest ( 2-3mins ).An by now, my weight training have done me nothing but wonders.I do not rely so much on the scale to see my progress as to me, weight can be affected by so many variables. So i took the measuring tape instead to measure my progress. At this point, hips 99cm, waist 74cm and arms 31.5cm at normal condition and 32cm flexed.

Running is a great cardio but after awhile, it does get lonely to be running alone. I tried to do the next best cardio exercise I know where I can sweat and still have fun doing it. Badminton! Boy,this game is my all time favourite sport since I cant even remember.!So every few days, I called up a bunch of friends and we have a great game for a couple of hours every session and trust me, competitive sports can be a really good cardio (the information on how much calories you can burn during any exercise/activities you are doing are abundant online.Eg,you can try by looking it up at http://www.nutristrategy.com/activitylist.htm). As for my weight training, by now I am lifting a 20lb dumbell for my upper body workout =). My current measurement is : hips 94cm, waist 72cm and arms 30cm at normal condition and 32cm flexed.

I know, I know, you must be think "OMG this girl still got along way to go and she's giving advice?".hahah..I am no expert but all I am saying is that you can change how you look. You have the power to either just beat yourself up yet do nothing bout your weight or you can start to get off your butt and literally do something about it. No doubt that sometimes it can be quite frustrating when you have work your ass off at the gym yet you see no changes. We need some professional advice every now and thn and if money is your concern (cause it is for me) you can get the professional yet free advice online at http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/index.html. There, they have all the plan set up for you to pick either you want to lose weight, build muscle, training for each body part, forum and so much more! Bodybuilding.com is like a bible for my training =).

So there you go girls and boys, thats my story of how I try to take control of my body. I am still a project in progress and maybe we can try to achieve our goals together!! You can post me any comments, or even share your own story. Looking at other people's success stories can be quite a motivation for me too ;)
